Your Advanced Beauty Therapist Apprenticeship

The Advanced Beauty Therapy Apprenticeship is available for any learner above the age of 16 you must have completed the Beauty Therapist Apprenticeship Level 2 to start the level 3.

The advanced beauty therapist apprenticeship will last between 15 - 18 months, on average. During your apprenticeship you will be earning a wage while learning your skills, an apprentice will be employed in a salon for a minimum of 30 hours per week and will be entitled to all the benefits of your qualified colleagues.

 

The Qualification

During the apprenticeship you will be assessed on your knowledge and understanding of the seven mandatory units. These assessments will be completed by your Kleek Educator to the requirements of our awarding body.

Apprentices will be working towards the Advanced Beauty Therapist Apprenticeship and after completing the program you will be fully qualified therapist with options to further your education with other apprenticeships.

The Units

There are seven mandatory units and to be awarded the Advanced Beauty Therapist Apprenticeship you must achieve in all these units.

The main aim of this unit is to give you an insight into the different systems of the body, how they work and how the systems will be affected by the treatment you will be carrying out for your client.

In this unit you will learn how to perform and adapt advanced body and technical therapy treatments, which will include;

  • Galvanic treatments for the body
  • Faradic (Electrical Muscular stimulation) treatments for the body
  • Microcurrent treatments for the body
  • Microdermabrasion treatments for the body
  • Low intensity LED light treatments for the body
  • Skin warming devices
  • Lymphatic drainage equipment treatments for the body
  • High Frequency treatments for the body

The main aim of this unit is to demonstrate that you can perform a consultation with every practical observation using all techniques.

In this unit you will learn how to perform and adapt advanced facial and technical therapy treatments, which will include;

  • Galvanic treatments for the face
  • Microcurrent treatments for the face
  • Microdermabrasion treatments for the face
  • Low intensity LED light treatments for the face
  • Skin warming devices treatments for the face
  • Lymphatic drainage treatments for the face
  • High Frequency treatments for the face

In this unit you learn to perform Swedish body massage and then develop these skills to include more advanced techniques such as, deep tissue with forearm wrist and elbow, light touch, lymphatic drainage, and pressure point massage.

This unit will give you skills and knowledge to run  a  successful Salon promotional activities, in order to maximise profit. You will learn how to promote additional services and products and the importance of continued professional development, in order to stay ahead of the latest treatments and trends.

Health and Safety practices are of paramount importance in the beauty therapy industry to ensure the safety of all clients and staff. Every employer and employee of the salon must be aware of relevant legislations and local by-laws that apply when working in the salon. This unit will ensure you know and understand how to work safely with clients, follow the correct policies and procedures in line with all holistic treatments.

Completing The Apprenticeship

At the end of your beauty therapy apprenticeship, after you have successfully completed the unit assessments, you will receive a Certificate of Unit Achievement. This allows you to progress onto the Gateway stage of the apprenticeship.

The Gateway is a period where we will review your knowledge, skills and behaviours to see if you have met the minimum requirements and are ready to take the End Point Assessment.

What is the End Point Assessment?

The End Point Assessment or EPA is an assessment of all the knowledge, skills and behaviours you have learned throughout your apprenticeship, it confirms you are ready to take the next steps in your hairdressing career.

These assessments have been designed and developed, by employers in the hairdressing industry, to reflect the daily work of a hairdresser. This makes them very sought after by employers across the industry.

After you have passed all the elements of the EPA, including any required standards in English and maths, you will receive your apprenticeship certificate.

What Does The Future Hold?

After you have completed your Advanced Beauty Therapist Apprenticeship you will be a fully qualified beauty therapist and will be able to work independently within your salon.
