This beauty therapy apprenticeship is perfect for anyone with little or no experience in beauty therapy.
It will provide the foundation you need to kick-start a successful career in the beauty industry!
This apprenticeship is available for any learner above the age of 16 and can take between 13 to 24 months. On average the program will take 15 to 18 months to complete.
There are no entry requirements for the apprenticeship, however all learners must have completed a Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention (COVID-19), or a regulated equivalent, and their Functional Skills (English & Maths) modules to a GCSE grade 4 equivalent to complete the program.
If you didn’t achieve GCSE grade 4 in these subjects at school, we will help you gain these qualifications during your apprenticeship.
During your apprenticeship you will be assessed on your knowledge and understanding of the seven mandatory units. This assessment will be completed by your Saks Educator to the requirements of our awarding body VTCT.
There are seven mandatory units and to be awarded the Level 2 Diploma for Beauty Professionals (Beauty Therapist) you must achieve in all these plus one of the optional units
The main aim of this unit is to develop your practical skills and knowledge to consult, plan, prepare and perform waxing services to remove unwanted hair on clients. You will need to know the types of equipment and products and range of waxing services and how these are carried out. You will need to understand the structure and function of the skin and hair, the hair growth cycle and factors which affect hair growth.
The main aim of this unit is to develop your practical skills and knowledge to consult, plan, prepare and perform hand and nail treatments on clients. You will need to know the techniques, tools and equipment used within hand and nail treatments, and the anatomy and physiology of the hands, lower arms, nails and skin.
The main aim of this unit is to develop your practical skills and knowledge to consult, plan, prepare and perform foot and nail treatments on clients. You will need to know the techniques, tools and equipment used within foot treatments and the anatomy and physiology of the lower leg, foot, nails and skin.
The main aim of this unit is to develop your practical skills and knowledge to consult, plan, prepare and perform facial skincare treatments, use facial products and equipment, and improve and maintain skin condition of clients. You will need to know the techniques, tools and equipment used for facial treatments, the anatomy and physiology of the face, and the structure and function of the skin, including skin conditions.
The main aim of this unit is to develop your practical skills and knowledge to consult, plan, prepare and perform enhancements to the appearance of the eyebrows and eyelashes on clients. You will need to know the techniques, tools and equipment used for eyebrow artistry and their effects, colour eyelashes, and how to attach, maintain and remove semi-permanent and temporary eyelashes.
The main aim of this unit is to develop your practical skills and knowledge to consult, plan, prepare and perform make-up services on clients. You will need to know the techniques, tools and equipment used to create different make-up effects for different occasions.
The main aim of this unit is to develop your practical skills and knowledge to consult, plan, prepare and perform manual back, neck and shoulder massage treatments on clients. You will need to know the correct use, application and benefits of massage techniques and the anatomy and physiology of the body and systems.

At the end of your apprenticeship, after you have successfully completed the unit assessments, you will receive a Certificate of Unit Achievement. This allows you to progress onto the Gateway stage of the apprenticeship.
The Gateway is a period where we will review your knowledge, skills and behaviours to see if you have met the minimum requirements and are ready to take the assessment.
Once you have successfully completed the Gateway you will be submitted for your End Point Assessment. The End Point Assessment or EPA is an assessment of all the knowledge, skills and behaviours you have learned throughout your apprenticeship, it confirms you are ready and competent in the career path you have chosen.
These assessments have been designed and developed, by employers in the beauty industry, to reflect the daily work of a beauty therapist. This makes them very sought after by employers across the industry.
After you have passed all the elements of the EPA, including any required standards in English and maths, you will receive your apprenticeship certificate.
After you have completed your Level 2 Diploma for Beauty Professionals (Beauty Therapist) you will be a fully qualified beauty therapist and will be able to work independently within your salon.

On successful completion of the Wellbeing and Holistic Therapy Apprenticeship Standard you will have the knowledge, skills and behaviours to provide treatments and wellbeing experiences via holistic therapy principles, theories and applications. These will help the you to contribute to the commercial viability and effectiveness of the business and to enhance the client experience.
On successful completion of a hairdressing apprenticeship standard, an apprentice will be able to carry out consultations with clients, demonstrate professionalism, and develop excellent communication skills and safe working practices associated with their role. They will be able to work without supervision to a high level of professionalism.
On successful completion of a barbering apprenticeship standard, an apprentice will be able to carry out consultations with clients, demonstrate professionalism, and develop excellent communication skills and safe working practices associated with their role.
