Another End Point Assessment and another outstanding 100% distinction!

Maisie Dix from Stylers in Dover completed her Level 2 Hair Professionals Apprenticeship with flying colours and scoring a stunning 700 out of 700!

Maise chose to pursue a career in hairdressing because she was really interested in different styles that you can achieve with hair and wanted to learn what hair was actually all about, she also has ambitions of running her own salon. This ambition and the skills learnt during her training led Maisie to become one of a growing number of Saks Apprentices that have managed to score top marks in their EPA and she found the process and assessment “challenging, interesting and rewarding all at the same time.

To start off with I was very nervous for my EPA but at the same time I was very excited. I prepared for it in many ways such as making sure I used all the right techniques, that my colouring skills was perfect along with my cutting and styling.

But I also I just went into my EPA with a good amount of confidence as well as being a little bit nervous because I saw it as my chance to show everyone what I could actually achieve. As I had worked so hard to get to this point.

During the very rigorous EPA Maisie displayed all the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to succeed in the fast moving and exciting hairdressing industry. She received glowing accreditation from her assessor with comments saying how detailed and comprehensive she was during the testing and consultations, that she was confident, accurate and consistent during her colouring and lightening component and her clients’ expectations were more than exceeded.

Other fantastic comments were that she demonstrated a professional dexterity and her attention to detail was outstanding leaving her clients with elegant and creative hairstyles.

During the assessments Maisie built an outstanding relationship with the clients, leaving them at ease with the process and each of them left with bespoke aftercare advice for their new hair!

Maisie’s very proud educator Theresa Farnham, who only recently started working with her, said this of her time with Saks Apprenticeships:

Having only recently taken over Maisie’s training, due to her previous educator leaving on maternity, I was really pleased to meet someone who is as focussed and dedicated as Maisie. Her determination to achieve perfection is matched by her enthusiasm and keenness to succeed. Her perfect score is a culmination of this amazing drive and preparation, the outstanding training by Sophie and the fantastic support from her salon team

This glowing report was mirrored by Cassie Jenkins, salon owner at Stylers:

“Maisie is an asset to the team, and it feels like she’s always been here. She has been fantastic through her apprenticeship and has always taken everything in her stride, she always shows her artistic nature in everything she does.

Maisie is always using her initiative, her all round proactive attitude and her natural raw talent are a massive addition to the business. We had every faith in her that she would fly through it, and we are extremely proud!”

Maisie also has some fantastic advice for those of you who are looking to follow in her footsteps of scoring the highest possible scores in your apprenticeship:

“My advice to anyone would be work hard, take everything you can within your stride, Slow and steady wins the race. And if at first you don’t succeed try, try and try again because practice makes perfect! “
