Change is coming and Saks Education wants to make sure you’re the first to know. National Minimum Wage is always a hot topic at this time of year with the yearly rise welcomed by us all. However it’s important to know where you stand as an employer to make sure you don’t get caught out and your apprentices are on the wage they deserve.
As of April 1st 2018 Apprentices will be paid a minimum of £3.70 per hour and failure to meet this could leave you subject to investigation from HMRC. Do you have an apprentice over the age of 19 who has been with you for over a year? If so they will be entitled to their NMW based on their age.

National Minimum Wage for those aged 25 and over has increased from £7.50 to £7.83 per hour
For those aged 21-24 the NMW has increased from £7.05 to £7.38
18-20 year olds will see an increase from £5.60 to £5.90
For Under 18’s the wage will increase from £4.05 to £4.20
Apprenticeship wage will increase from £3.50 to £3.70 per hour
