Start your dream career with Saks Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships available in Hairdressing, Barbering, Beauty and Nail Services throughout the UK

What is an apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships are an excellent way of gaining hands-on experience to excel in a career. An apprenticeship involves structured training that enables individuals to develop the knowledge and skills required to do a specific job role. On completion, apprentices will receive a government and employer-recognised qualification.

As an apprentice, you are required to work a minimum of 30 hours a week, but each employer will advise on their requirements. However, if you are aged 18 or under you will not be permitted to work more than 40 hours a week, or more than 8 hours a day. Apprentices are entitled to the apprentice minimum wage but as you progress through your qualification your wage is likely to increase.

Why choose Saks?

Saks Apprenticeships are proud to be one of the country's top training providers for Hairdressing apprenticeships, Barbering apprenticeships and Beauty Therapy apprenticeships. Over 20 years of experience in education has taught us that a salon’s greatest asset will always be its people. So, we’ve made it our mission to offer top-quality education that not only teaches technical skills but prepares you for a successful career within your industry.

There are a wide range of apprenticeship standards available, all centred around practical work-based learning and we’ll assign you and your salon a dedicated Saks Apprenticeships Educator. They’ll plan and oversee your tailor-made learning programme and offer support and guidance both online and face to face.

Getting Started

When you decide to start out on an exciting journey into apprenticeships there is a few thing you will need to do to get on the ladder.

Firstly you should have a professional and up to date Curriculum Vitae or CV and a fantastic covering letter to introduce yourself to any prospective employers. If you don't have these already and you need some assistance there are loads of websites available that can point you in the right direction. A couple of great sites to use would be the Apprenticeship Guide, who have a wide range of guides and advice, or the National Careers Service.

Once you have a CV and covering letter that sells you in the best way possible you will need to find an employer who can support you through your apprenticeship. You can do this by either looking through our Vacancies page, where we have all the current opportunities available with Saks Apprentice salons, or by approaching your local salons to see if they have any vacancies. If you find a salon who'd like to take you on, get them to contact us and we'll get the ball rolling.
